NIRA Opens New Registration Center in Kaxda District, Benadir Region

Mogadishu, Somalia – October 12, 2025 — The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has today inaugurated a new registration center in Kaxda District, Benadir Region, further expanding access to National ID services across Mogadishu.

The opening ceremony was jointly officiated by NIRA’s Deputy Director General, Mr. Abdirahman Said Ahmed, the Benadir Regional Administration’s Deputy Governor for Security and Political Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh), and the District Commissioner of Kaxda, Mr. Abdirisak Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi.

During the event, NIRA’s Deputy Director General emphasized the importance of the National ID Card as a gateway to accessing essential public services. He urged residents of Kaxda to take advantage of the new center’s registration and card issuance services, reaffirming NIRA’s commitment to bringing identity services closer to the people.

In their remarks, both the Deputy Governor for Security and Political Affairs and the Kaxda District Commissioner commended NIRA for its continuous efforts to extend ID services across all districts of Benadir. They underlined that the National ID is vital for accessing fundamental services such as education, banking, passport issuance, and domestic travel.

With the opening of the Kaxda District Registration Center, NIRA completes the establishment of registration facilities across all districts of the Benadir Region, demonstrating its firm commitment to ensuring that every citizen has convenient access to secure and reliable identification services.
