NIRA Launches New Registration Center in Benadir’s Gubadleey District

 

Mogadishu, Somalia – October 8, 2025 — The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has today inaugurated a new registration center in Gubadleey District, Benadir Region, as part of its ongoing efforts to bring National ID services closer to communities across the country.

The opening ceremony was jointly officiated by NIRA’s Deputy Director General, Mr. Abdirahman Said Ahmed, and the District Commissioner of Gubadleey, Mr. Abdullahi Nur Mahmoud (Kaalibey).

Speaking during the event, Mr. Ahmed emphasized that the establishment of the new center marks a significant step in expanding NIRA’s service reach and ensuring that citizens in every district have access to essential identification services. He urged residents of Gubadleey to register and obtain their National ID Card, describing it as the key to accessing basic public services across Somalia.

For his part, the District Commissioner, Mr. Abdullahi Nur Mahmoud, commended NIRA for opening the center and encouraged the local community to make use of it. He highlighted that the National ID plays a vital role in enhancing and modernizing service delivery across government institutions.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials from the Benadir Regional Administration, the Federal Government of Somalia, traditional elders, religious leaders, and representatives from various community sectors, reflecting the strong local support for NIRA’s expansion efforts
