A: The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) is a national agency that is responsible for creating, employing, managing, and maintaining a basic identity management system, in order to enable the registration of every citizen legally residing in Somalia.

A: The National Identification and Registration Authority was established under Law Lr No. 41 of 2020. This Act was amended by Lr. No. 009 Act, which was passed in May 2023.
