NIRA's Board of Directors
In accordance with the stipulations outlined in Article 15 of the National Identification and Registration Law, NIRA is mandated to establish a Board of Directors composed of nine distinguished members. The composition of this pivotal governing body reflects a collaborative effort between the Director General, Deputy Director General, and the following key Ministries:
- Representative from the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation
- Representative from the Ministry of Health.
- Representative from the Ministry of Internal Security.
- Representative from the Ministry of Post, Communications, and Technology.
- Representative from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
- Representative from the Ministry of Finance.
- Representative from the Ministry of Labor and Public Affairs.
- Representative from the Office of the Solicitor General.
- Director General of NIRA (Chairman of the Board of Directors).
Under the provision set forth in the legislative framework, each Minister is entrusted with appointing a representative to the Board, leveraging their individual expertise and experience directly relevant to the functions of the National Identification and Registration Authority. Furthermore, the Director General assumes the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors, ensuring effective leadership and direction. In instances of the Director General's absence, the Deputy Director seamlessly takes charge, maintaining the continuity and stability of the board's operations. Moreover, any vacancy arising within the Board of Directors is promptly addressed in accordance with the procedures outlined in Article 15, Section 5, emphasizing the commitment to maintaining a robust and fully functional governing body for NIRA. The formalization of the National Identification and Registration Authority's Board of Directors has been solidified through the endorsement of the Board Formation and Operation Regulation signed by the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation in accordance with the National Identification and Registration Law.
