Somali Leaders Visit NIRA Booth at Dan-Qaran Government Achievement Exhibition

Mogadishu, Somalia – 24/08/2024: Somalia’s top leadership, including President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Speaker of the Federal Parliament’s House of the People, H.E Adan Mohamed Nur Madoobe, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, and Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama, visited the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) booth during the Dan-Qaran Government Achievement Exhibition. During the visit, NIRA’s Director General Abdiweli Ali (Timacadde) provided an overview of the authority’s progress and key achievements in implementing the national identification system.

As part of the exhibition, which marks the second anniversary of Prime Minister Barre’s government, NIRA showcased its achievements in registering citizens and rolling out the National Identification System. The agency also provided on-site registration services for citizens, allowing them to apply for the national ID.

President Hassan Sheikh and other dignitaries praised NIRA’s efforts, highlighting the importance of a functioning national identification system in improving government service delivery and country’s overall development.
